Easthampton, MA, often hailed as a “small city model for the 21st century,” embraces its rich mill heritage and maintains a thriving community. The Nashawannuck Pond Promenade Park, featuring an exquisite Ipe hardwood boardwalk, has further solidified Easthampton’s status as a vibrant destination. This transformation has become a catalyst for attracting tourists and supporting local businesses, as it provides an opportunity to immerse in the region’s natural splendor.

The brainchild of William Canon, a Landscape Architect, brought to life through the collaboration of state and local agencies, the Nashawannuck Pond Promenade Park project showcases a picturesque eight-foot-wide Ipe hardwood boardwalk extending 500 feet through the downtown area. This addition offers a unique perspective of Mount Tom and allows visitors to experience the tranquility of a 30-acre pond bordering the heart of downtown Easthampton.

The Ipe boardwalk, skillfully constructed by Marois Construction from South Hadley, MA, features expert installation of Brazilian Wood Depot’s Ipe hardwood decking. To ensure precision and consistency in construction, many sections of Ipe decking were panelized and securely fastened with stainless steel screws into the framing. Ipe’s reputation for slip resistance, scratch resistance, durability, and natural beauty makes it the ideal choice for public walks, boardwalks, and residential decks. This transformation, a testament to the exceptional quality of Brazilian Wood Depot’s products, has created a scenic haven that unites the community with the great outdoors.
